Xpercity Strengthens Leadership Team
Manchester-based residential developer Xpercity has announced the appointment of Andrew Thornber as its new Finance and Investment Director, marking a significant addition to the company's executive leadership team as it continues to expand its development portfolio across the UK.
Andrew joins Xpercity with more than 25 years of senior financial, investment and operational leadership experience across international investment platforms, sovereign wealth funds, multinational businesses and high-growth private enterprises. A Chartered Accountant (ACA) and law graduate from the University of Nottingham, he brings an exceptional track record in corporate finance, capital raising, strategic growth and business transformation.
Most recently, Andrew served as Chief Financial Officer of Yomali Holdings, a private international sales and distribution business with annual turnover exceeding $600 million and transaction processing volumes of more than $1 billion. During his tenure, he played a key role in driving a 630% increase in net profit over a five-year period, while strengthening governance, reporting frameworks and financial controls across multiple international jurisdictions.
Prior to this, Andrew spent nine years as Chief Financial Officer of Aabar Investments, the Abu Dhabi sovereign investment platform that was subsequently integrated into Mubadala Investment Company. During this period, he led and supported financing activities in excess of $10 billion, including major refinancing transactions, capital markets activity and bond issuances totalling $4.5 billion. Among his most notable achievements was the successful delivery of a €1.2 billion exchangeable bond transaction that was recognised internationally as "Deal of the Year" in 2011.
In his new role, Andrew will be responsible for overseeing Xpercity's financial strategy, investment activities, funding structures, capital raising initiatives and corporate governance framework. He will work closely with the board to support the company's ambitious growth plans and strengthen relationships with investors, lenders and strategic partners.
